People are finding increasingly innovative uses for data. More companies and organisations are seeing the benefits of making their information available to others. Various campaigns are demanding that many more organisations follow suit. People are flinging around terms like API, visualisation and mash-up more and more often - do you know what they're talking about?
The aim of the evening will be to:
For those interested in taking things further, you'll be able to meet others interested in organising/taking part in hack days and similar events.
Format
6-7pm - Arrive at Fazeley Studios. General milling around and chatting.
7-8.30pm - Talks from some people with experience in this area, including members of the Guardian's web team (others TBC shortly)
8.30pm-end - Further milling about (with conversation likely to carry on at a local pub)
Who is the event relevant to?
Anyone is welcome, but particularly journalists, academics, third sector workers, developers, the public sector, programmers, mathematicians, statisticians, social media enthusiasts, broadcasters and anyone who happens to be sat on a pile of potentially useful data.
